When your Instant Website is first created, it will be a "child portal" of the CustomersInFocus site (such as
http://www.customersinfocus.com/mywebsite). Most businesses will want their own domain name (which would be
http://www.mywebsite.com in this example), or will already have one in use or reserved. We recommend you find a reputable domain registration service that fits your price range -- the good news is that domain names are getting cheaper every day!
It typically takes at least 24 hours for your domain name to be locked/reserved with whichever domain name registrar you use, and another 24 hours to ensure it's re-pointed to your web-host's servers properly.
With these time factors in mind, we recommend you reserve your domain name as soon as possible, to get the process started. Then, create your Instant Website and begin developing it. By having your site as a child portal under CustomersInFocus, you can develop your website and test it without any users seeing your "site under construction". You can probably have a significant portion of your website's content transferred/finished by the time the domain is locked for you!
Once you have finished developing your website and the domain has been locked down for you, please send CustomersInFocus a message requesting to have us re-point your domain name to our web-host's servers. We'll respond shortly and go through the process of re-pointing your domain name to your Instant Website.
After the domain name registration and re-pointing process has been completed, you will be able to browse to your website by the domain name you registered (and no longer the child portal URL). In the preceeding example, the URL to access your Instant Website would end up being:
http://www.mywebsite.com.
